Top Model 13 Exit Interview: Kara

Kara Vincent, 19, was eliminated last week in the ninja episode, after she looked very un-ninja like in her photos. After she was eliminated, she said it was a bad decision coming on Top Model. In her Real Blogger Exit Interview, Kara, a Chicago resident, changes her mind on the show, and talks about the ninja shoot, Nicole, and her silly Top Model musical.

Real Blogger: When you got kicked off, you mentioned you wished you had stayed in Costa Rica. What’s that all about?
Kara Vincent : Before I auditioned for the show, I was living in Costa Rica. I had to move back to the states right before the show. I was living there for the semester in the summer.
RB: It seemed like you really wished you had never auditioned, never been on Top Model. Still feel that way?
KV: Definitely not! When I said that, it had been three minutes after I had been eliminated. I seemed really ungrateful. I learned a lot from the experience. There’s no way I had wished I hadn’t done it.
RB: You enjoyed the show, then?
KV: Everything about it was a lot of fun. Most of the time, it showed us gossiping, it didn’t show us having fun. But a lot of the time, we were having fun, making games … We worked with the most amazing photographers, with Tyra…
RB: In that last episode, you had come up with a “Top Model: The Musical.” It was funny watching you guys try to act like each other.
KV: I wish they would have showed more! We did everybody in the house. Brittany auditioned for Jen - that was super funny.

RB: Which girl did you have to do?
KV: I think I did Sundai … You have to talk fast and make sure no one can understand you (laughs).
RB: You hadn’t been in bottom two before, then you got kicked off. Did you think that was fair?
KV: I definitely understood why I wasn’t given another chance. On the other hand, I was shafted. (The week before) with the bottom two, it was a group photo- that messed the call out order. (Ed. note: Jennifer had a terrible photo during the group shot, but got called first because Rae and Erin did so well. Kara’s group did so-so).
RB: So what was you best photo?
KV: I really liked my first photo. It was weird acting like we were taking baby shots, but I liked it.
RB: And your least favorite?
KV: Oh, the last one. It definitely was elimination worthy.
RB: What was it like trying to do the ninja photos with weapons and the harness?
KV: There were a lot of elements. You picked weapons and had training with the martial arts instructor. So I tried to bring the training into the photo shoot. I think I got conflicting information from Jay (Manuel) and the martial arts instructor.
RB: That martial arts instructor was hardcore. She was really, really excited about weapons.
KV: I know! She was into it.
RB: Do you think you got fair criticism about your ninja photo?
KV: Yeah, except when they said it looked like i didn’t want to be in the competition.
RB: Oh yeah. That was after Tyra was saying Brittany had pornographic cleavage. Did you notice later they blurred out Brittany’s cleavage, after Tyra had said something?
KV: That was really funny. It’s right in the middle of my (elimination speech). I was crying. And then her boobs are blurred out.
RB: It seemed like, especially in the last episode, you had a rivalry with Nicole. What was going on there?
KV: I feel like everything I said was kind of taken out of context. There were definitely things she did that were annoying, but they didn’t show all of it. They wanted to portray me as a villain or a bully. Nicole said some things, too. But it’s all good now. We’ve talked since then.

RB: Did you like the way they set up go-sees this time (the girls had to drive themselves, in pairs)?
KV: It was really exciting going around L.A. on our own. Every go-see was different, with photos, jewelry and the commercial. We had a lot of fun doing it. I thought I did really well. Watching it back, I didn’t get such good criticism. I expected to get a little better critiques.
RB: Yeah, that one lady said you looked like a mess. That must have been tough to hear.
KV: First of all, we didn’t know we were going to go-sees. With the Tyra mail, we probably could have figured it out- it said something about “see”… but we weren’t that smart, I guess.
RB: So you would have dressed differently?
KV: Oh yeah. I wouldn’t have slicked (my hair) back.
RB: What’s next for you, then? Are you going to keep modeling?
KV: I’m going to try to find an agency and see if I can model. It’s definitely going to be difficult. I’m still 5′7 and that’s still short.
