Whatever happened to Bo Bice?

November 3rd, 2009 Posted in Bo Bice, New Idol Music

Bo Bice (AP Photo)Carrie Underwood released her new CD Tuesday.

So whatever happened to Bo Bice, her competitor for the American Idol crown back in the show’s fourth season?

Glad you asked, because Bo released new music recently, with much less fanfare than Carrie, of course.

Actually, it’s one new song, a hard-driving southern rock tune called “Old Spanish Trail” that appears on the soundtrack for the movie “Noble Things,” which follows a one-hit wonder of a country singer as he hitchhikes homes to visit his ailing father. (Here’s a review.)

The soundtrack, and songs from it, were available for download via iTunes as of Friday. The soundtrack also features songs from Tracy Lawrence and Pam Tillis among others.

But as of Tuesday, Bo’s track was the most popular from the soundtrack in terms of iTunes downloads.

It’s not the first time music from Bo has been featured on a soundtrack. He sang “Blades of Glory” on the soundtrack for the 2007 hit movie of the same name.

“Old Spanish Trail” has more in common with Bo’s solid second album, “See the Light,” than his post-Idol debut, which seemed to offer listeners anything but “The Real Thing” its title promised.

Here’s a link to Bo’s Web site and a release about his involvement in “Noble Things.”

Old Spanish Trail is a solid, rockin’ out song. Bo Bice sounds fastastic.
